In just 60 days, we’ve raised $100,000! That’s halfway to our goal for December.
Thank you to everyone that came out to our fundraising event on October 22! We had a great turnout and we were able to raise nearly $8000 in just 2 hours. Congrats to our raffle winners and thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered and signed up to ‘Fund An Item’. Many more playground elements are available for funding, you can see them here. You can see some photos of our event, photographed by Kaitlyn McQuaid Photography. Excellent live music was played by Michael Miller.
It’s amazing what our community has done in this short amount of time, and we really just got started!
Our new playground, you can see the design here, is going to cost about $425,000. Privately fundraising $200,000 shows the State that their funding has community backing and shows just how important this park is to us. So this December when we formally apply for a Legislative Bond, the state will see our commitment. Delegate Dana Jones is championing us in our pursuit of state funds and is confident she can secure us $100,000 to $150,000.
With state funding and our first goal met, that puts us 80% funded with the goal to be fully funded May 15th 2027. While AACPS’ Phase 1 design will be installed by mid-November, our goal is to have Phase 2, the rest of the playground, fully installed in exactly 1 year!
In just 1 year, we could have an amazing place for our kids, our friends, our neighbors and our whole community to gather, play and enjoy.
Let’s keep pushing and raise another $100,000 these next 60 days!
