One of the largest publicly available parks in the immediate vicinity of downtown Annapolis, Germantown Park serves as the heart of our community. Nestled between Germantown-Homewood and Admiral Heights neighborhoods, our park features a playground, walking trails and multiple sports fields.
The Friends of Germantown dream that it will evolve into a true park for the community of Annapolis. We dream of a challenging and inspiring playground, shade trees and space for all people to explore and engage with the outdoors.
We are currently leading a fundraiser with the goal of raising $200,000 by December. With this amount raised, we will be able to submit for state funding by way of a Legislative Bond Initiative- funding upwards of $150,000 of our project.
For many years, our neighborhood playground has been central to our community. It is where children take their first trips down the slide, families gather after school, neighbors meet one another, and friendships are formed. More than just playground equipment, it has become a place where communities from the city and greater Annapolis come together. The adjacent sports fields host many youth sports leagues year round and the families who visit see the playground as a wonderful place for siblings and athletes alike to enjoy. The soon to be completed West East Expressway via the Poplar Trail will bring even more visitors.

As our neighborhood has grown and evolved, generations of families have enjoyed this park. It has hosted countless afternoons of play, birthday celebrations, community gatherings, and everyday moments that help create a strong sense of belonging among residents.
Unfortunately, after years of continuous use and exposure to the elements, the playground has reached the end of its useful life.
Following a safety assessment, the Anne Arundel County Public School System has determined that the existing equipment no longer meets current safety standards and must either be removed or replaced. Without funding for replacement, our neighborhood faces the loss of one of its most valuable shared spaces.

In response, The Friends of Germantown Park, a committee of dedicated neighbors, has organized to advocate for the replacement and enhancement of the playground. Our goal is simple: ensure that future generations of children and families continue to have access to a safe, modern, and inclusive place to play.
AACPS, in response to our calls for replacement, have offered to install a small replacement portion of the playground and have invited us, the community, to dream up and fund the rest.

We have designed an awesome, challenging and engaging playground that we believe will serve kids of all ages and will become a playground that families from the surrounding community seek out. And now we need your help raising the funds. Please consider donating to help build an amazing playground for our families, neighbors and greater community!

Replacing this playground is about more than installing new equipment—it is about preserving an important part of our neighborhood’s identity.
Without investment, our community will lose a place where children learn, families connect, and neighbors build lasting relationships. With your support, we can transform an aging playground that has reached the end of its life into a safe, accessible, and vibrant community asset that will serve hundreds of children and families for decades to come.
Your contribution is an investment in children’s health, family well-being, and the strength of our community. Together, we can ensure that this treasured gathering place continues to bring joy, connection, and opportunity to future generations.
