Out with the old and in with the new! While it is sad to see years and years of memories being ripped out in a matter of hours, it means that progress has begun!
Yesterday, AACPS ripped out all but one of the structures at Germantown Park Playground and leveled the space for the installation of Phase 1. We expected demolition on October 19 and install over the next few weeks and are pleasantly surprised to see that everything has begun according to plan!
We will be hosting a Phase 1 Playground Unveiling on November 8th from 10-12 to celebrate the completion of Phase 1 and let our kids explore part of their new park! We are so excited to see this vision come to fruition!
Thank you to all of our volunteers so far for everything that they’re doing. Over the course of the last few weeks, we’ve done some solid ground work to ensure our community knows about our Park and our mission! We’ve canvassed 1000 homes from Admiral Heights, Germantown-Homewood and West Annapolis. We’ve installed a sign at the park that describes our project and calls folks who visit our park to join in or donate. We are gaining traction!

Fundraising:
Prior to October, we were offered two matching donations from members of the community for a total of $15,000. We have matched about $5000 of that money in small donations and just received a commitment last night to donate $10,000 from another private donor. West Annapolis also voted for us to receive their Oktoberfest donations, nearly $1200. With those donations we have fundraised $78,519! That’s 39% of our goal for December!
With our fundraising event on Thursday (evite– please share with family/friends who might want to support our park), my goal is for us to hit and exceed $100,000 in money raised by the end of October. That gives us two weeks to raise about $20,000.
